What is cloud computing and how does it work?

Cloud computing is the range of internet services deployed through the internet. It is the best of the mainframe in the modernizing edge of high-speed internet. The cloud computing services reduces the cost required to maintain the on-premises server, maintenance cost on the technical team, and other cost related to servers such as securing with dedicated internet service.

Cloud computing works on a pay-as-you-go billing model, at lightning speed with a reliable security level, which has been made possible with modernizing technologies. Today, business does not need to own expensive hardware, electronics, software, and maintenance cost to run their business IT environment.

How does cloud computing work?

Cloud computing works on four types of deployment models. They are

  1. Private
  2. Public
  3. Hybrid
  4. Community
  1. Private Cloud

The private cloud infrastructure is provided exclusively to the single or a private organization with a high level of security given to the multiple users for its employees, consumer, or management. Such cloud infrastructure is installed on-premises or off premises using high-speed internet connectivity. The cloud infrastructure is highly dedicated to the requirement of an organization to which the vendor is proving the services.

  • Public Cloud

The Public cloud is to host multiple tenants within an environment in which the end-user is liable to bear their usages, also known as pay as you go, model. Here the end-user is allowed to access the software on the infrastructure provided by the Vendor. It comes with numerous advantages to fewer expenses which only occur from the resources they consume. Benefits such as unit, pricing, elasticity, and scaling are added for the user from the service providers.

  • Hybrid Cloud

The hybrid cloud is a cross breed of Private and public clouds, in another word it is the composition of two or more cloud infrastructures such as including a community cloud. As so it allows businesses or organizations to leverage shared resources. It is required when an organization needs to private cloud to store confidential information on the other uses the public cloud to share the distributed information with the employee or management team.

  • Community Cloud

The community cloud is the cloud infrastructure provided to multiple organizations on the same cloud. The cost of resources which is being accessed by the organization is then being shared among the organization which reduces of cost of the subscription. The community cloud service is highly flexible and scalable, the information which is being shared among the organization can be modified by the organization accessing it. Thus, it helps businesses to work on a single project from various locations.

Services model of Cloud computing

Cloud computing follows three key services model which organization, government, or individual access to building the solution on Top of It.

  1. IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
  2. PaaS (Platform as a Service)
  3. SaaS (Software as a Service)

Let us see each of them one by one:

  • IaaS

The IaaS stands for Infrastructure as a Service, in which service providers allow the organization to access their infrastructures such as their data center, disk storage, servers, network, load balancer, and a firewall. These services are provided on high-speed internet connectivity on a Virtual Machine (VM). This entire infrastructure is maintained by the service provider’s professional technical team. This reduces the heavy IT burden on an organization and works on a pay-as-you-go model.

  • PaaS

The PaaS stands for Platform as a Service model, in which service providers allow the organization to access their application including Operating system, Applications server, Database, Programming language, Middleware, and virtualized machines from which businesses can build their solutions. The PaaS model is built upon IaaS which is maintained and run by the service provider.

  • SaaS

The SaaS stands for software as a service which is often known as a utility cloud such as accessing emails, calendar mobile applications, and so on. The primary function of the businesses is to develop enterprise solution as CRM, ERP, HCM, and other business-critical software for the operations of small, medium, and large organizations in their respective industry.

Conclusion

Here in this article, we have learned about cloud computing, its deployment model, and the three most common services which the vendor provides to their clients. Now, you may be wondering, whether you need to move toward the cloud or stay where you are or whether your industry needs cloud solutions.

Let me comment, technology requirement remains the same for every business regardless of the industrial nature or size.
